an initiative sponsored by United Way of Baroda, is dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and prevention among adolescents studying in municipal schools of Vadodara.
Currently, the project is being implemented at MAA Bharti Primary School, Sayajigunj.
Spanning six months, the project includes weekly sessions that focus on various topics related to mental health and its significance.
These sessions aim to equip students with knowledge and tools to build resilience and foster a healthy mindset.
This week, Ms. Reshma Helaiya, Project Officer for Education at United Way of Baroda, conducted a session on social safety.
The session emphasized critical topics, such as identifying ‘good touch and bad touch,’ understanding personal boundaries, and learning about the POCSO Act (2012).
Students were encouraged to respond assertively in unsafe situations by shouting “NO,” calling for “HELP,” and running to safety. They were also taught the importance of understanding that abuse is never their fault and to confide in a trustworthy person rather than enduring it silently. “Share, don’t hide it,” was the key takeaway message of the session.
The enthusiastic participation from students reflected the project’s success in fostering awareness and creating a supportive, safe environment.
Through such impactful sessions, Pahal continues to contribute significantly to the mental well-being and development of children in Vadodara.
